The Carson family is Scot-Irish. The first family moved to America in the early 1700's. James Carson was born in 1729 in Rowan, NC. He married Honour Prudence Biggs in 1756. Their son was William Stewart Carson. He was born in Rowan, NC in 1961. He married Rachel Bair January 12, 1792. Their son, James, married Lucinda Dalton. It is said they had seven children, but there is written proof of only four.
One of those children was John Dalton Carson who was born May 26, 1826. He married Nancy Cassandra Johnson, born June 7, 1835, on February 5, 1852. They had eigth children: Cornelia married Robert Williams; Alice never married; Isabelle (Belle) married William Harden Goodall; Laura married William King; Ida married Sidney Dudney; Eudora married Harvey Young and John Walter married Willie Belcher.
John Dalton Carson was a constable in the 10th district in Wilson County. He died March 9, 1903, and his wife Nancy died June 14, 1924.
