The first recorded Purnells came from Scotland. This is the family of Mama Goodall's father.
Ira Barber Purnell was born January 21, 1824. On March 9, 1850, he married Easter H. Roe, who born May 17, 1827. (I have seen this name reffered to as Esther, but her tombstone says Easter.) They had seven children: Walter Leumel who married Laura Frances Kenney; James who married Kate Stone; Mary who married Nathan Flippen; Sam who married Tabitha Bains; Ben who married Ella Young; Alice who married Dr. Barnett Dayton Austin and Ruth who married Joe Tunstal.
Ira B. died January 7, 1857, and Easter died April 10, 1885.
I am not 100% sure, but I believe the above picture is Ira Barber Purnell.
